Een kwalitatief onderzoek naar zingeving in de beeldende therapie in het BosatelierSamenvatting
Even though meaning making is an important component of the mental health recovery programme, it turns out to be an underscored dimension in mental health care. This qualitative mixed method research was focused on meaning making in an art studio for psychologically vurnerable people. The main goal of this project was to explore and expose the way meaning making comes to the surface during their art activities.
A theoretical framework, observations, open and semi- structured interviews at two single case studies were used to come to a deeper understanding.
The conclusion of this research is that there are several different manners of the way art activities are contributing to meaning making aspects. However, there may be a tension between the interpretation of the researcher or the therapist and the actual experience of the cliënt. To remove this tension, articulation or explicitation of the meaning making aspects during art therapy sessions, are recommended.
Follow- up researches are necessary to generalize the findings of this research to a broader population.
