Samenvatting

In the Netherlands the creative sector has been selected as one of the nine top sectors of the economy which the country wants to prioritise for development. In this framework the Dutch government has recently compiled a policy document, ambitiously stating that the Netherlands should become the most creative economy in Europe by 2020. I must say that I am not always happy with this typical habit of policy makers nowadays to translate every ambition in sports terms. However, if it must be done, it is crucial to use the right yardstick. So I posed the question: “which economy is the most creative now, and what can we learn from it?”
