Samenvatting
The report concerns research and development of a non-invasive automated temperature control system for bioreactors on a microscale. The aim of the project was to develop a system that could apply a temperature gradient to a standardized 96 well microtiterplate.
The developed system uses a thermographic camera to determine the temperature of the wells of a microtiterplate, this sensor data is then used to calculate an output to the temperature control system. This control system consists of 2 Peltier elements which are able to heat an aluminium heatsink located underneath the microtiterplate and keep the wells at a stable temperature.
Further research can be performed on the design of a lid for the microtiterplates which is able to let through all near infrared light to limit disturbances and contaminations. A recommendation is to replace the infrared camera by separate infrared thermometers due to their smaller size.
