Samenvatting

This thesis will briefly explain what the Alliance of Civilizations entails.
It will also discuss its meaningfulness and whether the Alliance could or should have a strong influence on foreign relations, with the ultimate goal of achieving peace. The Alliance discusses several focus points on achieving this goal. These points are; dialogue and understanding, youth, education, migration and media. Apart from discussing the Alliance of Civilizations, a short summary of the second annual Forum in Istanbul will be given and some of the initiatives that the Alliance supports, will be discussed as well.
