Recognising and Developing Effective Workplace Cultures Across Health and Social Care that are Also Good Places to Work
chapter 15Recognising and Developing Effective Workplace Cultures Across Health and Social Care that are Also Good Places to Work
chapter 15Samenvatting
Delivering health and social care services across different settings is complex, multifaceted and constantly changing and evolving. The culture in which care is experienced by all at the point of contact is fundamental to the development of person‐centred relationships. Factors that enable effective workplace cultures include transformational leaders, skilled facilitation, role clarity, organisational readiness, a flat and transparent management structure as well as a supportive human resource department. The authors engage in a collaborative inquiry to develop a guiding theory with and for health and social care practitioners about how to recognize and develop effective workplace cultures that are also good places to work. Full details of the methodology and methods are published elsewhere, but the four resulting guiding lights – collective leadership, living shared values, safe, critical, creative, learning environments and change for good that makes a difference – are introduced.
