Tree plantation as solution for deforestation and recovery of biodiversity in Bolivian farms

Samenvatting

This report presents a comparison of biodiversity benefits of tree plantation with areas managed traditionally outside the plantation in farmlands. The aim of the research was to provide data that can be used for evaluating and certifying biodiversity benefits of the plantations. The question used to examine this was: how do tree plantations established on farmlands in the Ichilo province of Bolivia benefit biodiversity over time in comparison to biodiversity on reference sites outside of the plantations? Reference sites are areas that represent what the plantation was before the planting of trees. It is managed traditionally and differs from the management on the plantations.
