Samenvatting

The thesis is concerned with the possibilities and best practices of the implementation of the CO2-Performanceladder within the Delta Network Group on level three. A qualitative research method was used, such as explorative literature research on corporate social responsibility, the European Union, indepth interviews of different organisations and self evaluation of the current state at the Delta Network Group. The theoretical framework of the concept of Corporate Social Responsibility show the history, definition and trends and different practices of CSR on global scale, it shows that interpretations and practices of CSR can be devided into different geographical regions such as Europe, Asia and the US and that there is still not a global recognised definition of CSR but that it still developing itself and it is a way to give from to Sustainable development on corporate level. Furthermore the theoretical framework dicusses the influence and effort of regulation by the European Union on organisations within the EU and how it is stimulating the concept of Corporate Social Responsibility within Europre such as providing guidelines for memberstates and regulation on procurement processes in the EU. In addition the theoretical framework shows that the CSR concept consists out of the triple bottom line (People, Planet, Profit) and that organisations that use CSR are thinking about the impact on the enviroment, and its social impact within its business activities and of course the balance of those two with economic aspect or financial gains. The research considers the CO2-Performanceladder as way for organisations to give meaning and form to the organisations influence on the environment by reducing its CO2-Footprint and harmfull materials and looks more into depth on ways for the implemenation of the CO2-Performanceladder within the Delta Network Group.
