Samenvatting

The aim of the research is to help the Maasai to restore the ecosystem in order to get more feed for their livestock, but also for wildlife. This has become an issue mainly because of the droughts, erosion, dividing of land and overgrazing. These circumstances are different comparing with the past. The main-question is: How can the Maasai restore the savannah ecosystem so that their cattle and wildlife have sufficient and healthy feed on the middellong- and long term? To answer this question several sub-questions were used. Interviews and literature were used to answer these sub-questions. There has been looked at the restoration of the savannah, alternative feeds, getting less livestock and the conflicts between livestock and wildlife.
